Photo Diary: White House of the Confederacy Museum

This is a privately-owned museum in Richmond, featuring the house that Confederate President Jefferson Davis lived in during the Civil War, and an attached museum. Like every other privately-owned Confederate museum in the South, there’s a not-so-subtle “Lost Cause” undercurrent to it, but it does have a nice collection of Civil War era artifacts.

Some photos from a visit.

Display of Confederate flags. The Confederates had a bewildering variety of flags and battle flags—each state had its own versions.

“Captain Confederacy”—a comic book series published in the 80s. Two versions—one with a  white man, the other with an African-American woman. Ugh.
